The Box in the Driveway: Waiting, Avoiding, and Hoping It Wasn’t a Flop

The Box in the Driveway: Waiting, Avoiding, and Hoping It Wasn’t a Flop

After my velvet couch moment in St. Louis, I came home buzzing. Conjetta Designs had seen the spark in my idea, helped me refine the vision, and sent over faux leather samples so I could choose colors and textures. We emailed back and forth, tweaking details, making decisions. And then I waited.

And waited.

And waited.

It felt like an eternity. We’d met in November, and on April 30th, a box arrived on my doorstep. The shipping tape said Conjetta Designs. I knew what was inside. I should’ve been elated. But truthfully? I was nervous.

True story: I let the box sit in my driveway for three days. My toxic trait is avoidance (super helpful in my marriage 😉). I was scared. Scared that what was in my head wouldn’t translate. That I’d open it and hate it. That I’d invested time, money, and hope into something that would fall flat.

The box held more than a prototype; it held the weight of expectation, fear, and the very real possibility that I’d gotten it wrong.

Next week, I’ll share the reaction video from the moment I finally opened it. Spoiler: I didn’t hate it. But I did feel everything.
